DeKalb Schools Probing Misconduct By Principal: Report

The principal of Bethune Middle School has been placed on leave as an investigation proceeds, says media report.

DECATUR, GA — The principal of Mary McLeod Bethune Middle School has been removed from his duties amid an investigation by the DeKalb County School District, according to a media report. Myron Broome has been placed on administrative leave as the school district investigates an incident of misconduct, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Tuesday.

The school district declined Tuesday to give specifics about the accusation against Broome, but it said that the incident occurred off campus, the AJC reported.

The middle school, in Decatur, has students in the sixth, seventh and eighth grades.

The incident did not involve a student, the AJC said. It was reported to the school district on Oct. 19.

A retired DeKalb schools administrator is serving as the principal of Bethune Middle School as the investigation proceeds.
