DeKalb Sheriff Honors Chaplains

About 80 people volunteer as chaplains for DeKalb County Jail.

DECATUR, GA -- On Thursday, DeKalb County Sheriff Jeff Mann hosted an annual program to honor the county's chaplains.

About 80 volunteers provide chaplain service to DeKalb County Jail inmates and their families.

"Our volunteers are chaplains from all faiths, counselors and educators who give unselfishly of their time and talents to help inmates cope with being incarcerated while they await their court dates," Mann said in a news release. "We are truly fortunate to have them as members of our team because of the special services they provide and the cost-savings their participation represents for the sheriff’s office."
