DeKalb Student Named To Prestigious Scholarship
Addison Dascher Awarded 2019 Joseph P. Reed Alumni Scholarship by the Lakeside High School Foundation

From Lakeside High School Foundation: Addison Jurin Dascher has been awarded the 2019 Joseph P. Reed Alumni Scholarship by the Lakeside High School Foundation. The award includes $1000 to be used at the college or university of her choice. The scholarship -- named in honor of a former Lakeside principal -- is given annually and recognizes a graduating student who has excelled in academic and extracurricular activities and has served the Lakeside community.
Addison has received many awards and accolades during her four years at Lakeside High School. She is member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club, the Chorus Club, Drama Club, French Honor Society, International Thespian Society and Tri-M Honor Society, and was a staff writer for the Lakeside Legend. She played on the Tennis Team and was a member of the Cross Country Team.
“Addison Dascher personifies the true spirit of a Lakeside Viking! She excels academically, athletically and in our community,” said Derrica Williams with the Lakeside High School Foundation. “We are delighted to be able to present her with the Lakeside Foundation’s scholarship award for 2019.”

Addison created and sits on the Executive Board of TedxYouth@LakesideHS. She has been an Honor Roll student all four years and is a strong leader at Lakeside, serving as a member of the Student Government Association as a Senator during her Freshman and Sophomore years. She was the Junior Class SGA President and is currently the Senior Class SGA President.
She takes her passion for community service and uses it to volunteer with Books for Africa and Hands on Atlanta and is currently a Gesher Youth Peer Leader at The Temple.

Foundation Distributed $20,000 in Grants in 2018 - 19
The Reed Scholarship wraps up a year that saw the Foundation distribute more than $20,000 in grants. Those grants have supported new equipment for the football team, track and field team, Dugout Club, and the Cheerleading squad.
Foundation grants have also supported a new Literacy Lounge, a Science Cart, textbooks for the AP Spanish program, an Eagle Scout landscaping project in the courtyard, and the new Alumni Sports Hall of Fame.
The Foundation raises funds through donations and from the annual 5k Run that it holds each December.
