Nationwide Search for DeKalb Man Who Allegedly Threatened Police

A SWAT team stormed an apartment complex Tuesday night in search of Nicholas McLeod, who is a suspect in several violent crimes.

DECATUR, GA — DeKalb County police have launched a nationwide search for an armed robbery suspect man who reportedly threatened police on social media.

Police say William McLeod, 24, has posted on Instagram and Facebook that he would “go out with a bang” if confronted by police, reports Fox 5 Atlanta.

A DeKalb SWAT team stormed an Avondale Forest apartment Tuesday that didn't yield McLeod, but did cause a woman's apartment to be severely damaged.

SWAT team members shot tear gas into the apartment and then, once the air cleared, went inside. Police saw several children inside the apartment and removed them from the premises.

Police say McLeod escaped from the premises before they could arrest him.

“We have a lookout for this subject," said DeKalb Public Safety Director Dr. Cedric Alexander. "He very well could be dangerous to police if confronted. Considering the climate we’re in, we’re not taking any chances. That is the gravity of this case.”
