Delta Community Credit Union Recognizes DeKalb Nonprofits
The financial institution awarded a total of $5,000 to three area groups at a ceremony in Decatur on Wednesday.

A trio of charitable organizations which bring a positive impact to DeKalb County have been presented with grants by a local credit union.
Delta Community Credit Union awarded a total of $5,000 to St. Joseph’s Mercy Care Services, CHRIS Kids, and The Community School. The presentation ceremony was held at the credit union’s Decatur branch on Wednesday, according to a release.
St. Joseph’s Mercy Care Services will receive a $1,000 grant for its Latino Childhood Obesity Prevention Program (LCOPP) which is a community-based obesity prevention program that targets low-income Hispanic women with children ages 6-10 in metro Atlanta.

CHRIS Kids will receive a $3,000 grant for its TransitionZ program which provides skills, counseling and other supports through innovative programming that is open, inclusive, accepting, and meets each youth where they are. One of the programs within TransitionZ is a financial skills group that allows youth to learn how to achieve a positive financial wellbeing.
The Community School will receive a $1,000 grant for its Outdoor Program, which is a physical education program for adolescents and young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders. The program includes outdoor adventure days, hikes, and physical fitness programming which helps program participants increase their level of physical activity while learning to stay emotionally, socially, and physically regulated.
