Driving Trash Away: All-Terrain Litter Vacuum Set to Demo

The East Metro DeKalb CID is inviting the community to a demonstration of a new drivable vacuum.

DECATUR, GA — As trash and street litter collect on one of the busiest commercial corridor in the metro Atlanta area, business leaders will try a new approach for street cleaning.

The East Metro DeKalb Community Improvement District (CID) is considering the purchase of a drivable vacuum vehicle to clean curb and gutter areas that often fill with debris. The CID is evaluating the All-Terrain Litter Vacuum (ATLV) by Tennant, and will host a live demonstration of the vehicle’s capabilities on Aug. 1.

CID Administrator Nicole McGhee Hall of Nickel Works Consulting said CID-supported maintenance along Wesley Chapel Road could greatly benefit from adding the ATLV.

“The CID is investing in the weekly upkeep of Wesley Chapel Road because it is a significant gateway to our commercial properties,” Hall said. “Unfortunately, high volumes of trash collect along the medians and other roadside areas. The CID wants to be more effective, efficient and quick with our cleanups.”

Hall said the Aug. 1 event is intended to generate a greater understanding of the vehicle’s capabilities while encouraging project participation from other community-focused entities, including area business owners.

“We are looking for partners who are willing to invest with the CID to bring this technology here,” Hall said. “We want to encourage anyone interested in this effort to see the demo and to offer their insights.”

The Aug. 1 event will begin at 10 a.m. along Wesley Chapel Road.
