Early Voting Underway for DeKalb Runoff Elections

Election Day for the runoffs is July 26, but county residents may vote early through July 22.

DECATUR, GA -- Early voting has begun for the handful of races that weren't settled in DeKalb County's May 24 primaries.

The runoff election is on July 26. People wishing to vote early may do so through July 22.

Two Georgia General Assembly races have runoffs.

For state Senate District 43, based in Lithonia, Tonya P. Anderson and Dee Dawkins-Haigler face each other in the runoff. And in state House District 91, in southeast DeKalb, Vernon Jones and Rhonda S. Taylor are on the ballot.

In the Board of Commissioners District 4 race, incumbent Sharon Barnes-Sutton faces a continued challenge from Steve Bradshaw.

And in the race for county tax commissioner, Irvin J. Johnson and Susannah Scott face off.

The runoffs will settle races in which no single candidate earned more than 50 percent of the vote during the primary election.

People who wish to vote early may do so at the DeKalb County Voter Registration office, at 4380 Memorial Drive, Suite 300.

Voters will need to bring a photo ID with them to vote.
