On Friday, October 21st, 2011, the Environmental Education Alliance of Georgia (EEA) will host the 15th Annual Outdoor Learning Symposium at the Decatur Campus of Georgia Perimeter College. This year’s theme, “Leaving Footprints: Natural Paths to Learning”, will focus on discovering innovative ways to engage students and faculty in outdoor settings. Over the course of this one-day event, educators will have access to over 20 sessions focused on educational programming. The Symposium offers hands-on sessions instructing educators on how to incorporate the natural environment into their curriculum while employing the use of outdoor settings to enhance student development and success.
Topics, many of which adhere to the GA Performance Standards, include Bird Identification, entomology for teachers, grant writing, creating campus sanctuaries, greening the classroom and many more! Every educator will find something to fit their needs and will leave feeling energized and armed with information that will help improve teaching methods. In addition, this event is a valuable networking opportunity where participants will meet other environmental educators as well as public and corporate leaders involved in the environmental education movement.
Early Bird registration is $85 for EEA members and $110 for non-members (includes a year long membership to EEA). Early Bird Registration ends October 14th. After October 14th, registration will be $95 for EEA members and $120 for non-members. For more information and to register, visit www.eealliance.org.
