As this year’s Beloved Community Summit, The Friends School of Atlanta (FSA) will convene a panel of activists, academics and politicians to examine and raise consciousness about one of the most critical human rights issues of our time: the treatment of undocumented Latino individuals and families in the name of immigration reform. FSA’s 2012 Beloved Community Event will present the complex issues inherent in immigration reform, specifically focusing on families and education, and will discuss options for how to get involved. Panelists include State Senator Jason Carter; Adelina Nicholls, Executive Director of Georgia Latino Alliance for Human Rights (GLAHR), Dr. Julia Perilla, Director of the National Latin@ Center for Family and Social Change at GSU; and student activist Luke Perez-Leahy. FSA, founded in 1991, offers Quaker education in grades pre-K to 8th. For tickets and more information about the event and the school, visit friendsschoolatlanta.org.
