JEN FOSTER is an award-winning singer/songwriter who regularly sells out shows across the country. Her special bond with her fans creates a captive audience anxious to hear her stories and take in her unique sense of humor. Whether she’s singing about the time her lover moved out and took everything she owned in her AAA radio favorite, "Taking Bob Dylan," or about our jaded American culture in "Closer to Nowhere," she always has something genuine & meaningful to say. The video for “Closer To Nowhere” went to #1 on the LOGO Channel and stayed in their Top 10 list for 6 months as well as being a featured song on MTV’s “The Hills.”
Foster is a First Prize winner in the Pop division of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and a First Prize recipient in the Great American Songwriting Contest’s Pop division. Lavendar Magazine called her "One of the most popular and promising singer/songwriters of her generation."
Always independent, Foster has owned her Fosterchild Records label for almost 10 years securing film/TV placements including the theme to the Emmy winning web based soap opera "Venice: The Series." She’s created "The Writer’s Share", to benefit the TJ Martell Foundation for Leukemia, Cancer, and AIDS Research featuring hit songwriters Richard Marx, Keb’ Mo, and Mike Reid among others held yearly at the world-renowned Bluebird Café. Jen has been a keynote speaker at Tin Pan South and the Indiegirl Conference in Knoxville, TN as well as being an artist/writer representative on the very distinguished board at Nashville Songwriters Association International. The songstress, who’s voice has been compared to Sheryl Crow, Tracy Chapman and the Cranberries’ Dolores O’Riordan, just released “You Stayed”, an EP recording that is a tribute to her loving and loyal fans. She co-wrote the title track with multi-platinum hit Nashville based songwriter/producer, Jeffrey Steele (Rascal Flatts, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw). She is currently out on tour supporting the project.
ANTIGONE RISING, the all female rock band known for relentless grass roots touring, is currently working on their latest studio CD, 23 Red (August 2, 2011). Recording songs the band wrote together since Nini Camps joined the fold in 2009, 23 Red promises to showcase the signature 3-part vocal harmonies Antigone Rising fans are familiar with. "We were methodic in how we chose the songs for this upcoming studio effort," Kristen Henderson, founding member and bass player for the band, commented. "This CD isn't about indulging ourselves, for lack of a better expression. These songs all come from the heart, but if the hook didn't knock us off our feet, it didn't make the final cut." Guaranteed to make the final track listing are songs previously released on the band's 2010 Live From NYC EP - Borrowed Time and Everywhere is Home. "The first time I heard Everywhere is Home, I knew Nini had to either join the band or become my permanent silent writing partner." Kristen joked via phone from her home on Long Island.
What fans can also look forward to with this CD is a much more collaborative effort between all the members of the band. "When it came time for song selection, I wanted to be sure we included a few 3-and-a-half-minute, knock-you-over-the-head, no-brainers," Dena Tauriello, longtime drummer for the band, quipped. "I was so relieved to know Kristen, Cathy and Nini were in that mindset as well. There were a few songs on our list that I knew I'd fall on a sword for, and luckily everyone agreed!" Dena added, with a sigh of relief.
Known for their driving and vivacious live show, Antigone Rising has toured with The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, The Allman Brothers Band, The Dave Matthews Band, Rob Thomas, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, Lucinda Williams and The Bangles amongst others. Since their inception the band has released 4 independent albums. In 2004, they were signed to Lava Records, leading to a partnership with Starbucks. With the release of their album, "From The Ground Up," Antigone Rising became the first band in Starbucks' "Hear Music Debut" series.
In 2006, Antigone Rising appeared in a national print (Cosmo, Elle, Vanity Fair) and television campaign for designer clothing company 7 Jeans. They have enjoyed sponsorships with Mustang and Motorola. VH1 aired a half-hour special featuring the band and both VH-1 & CMT also embraced them by playing the video of their single, "Don't Look Back" on heavy rotation. The band has also appeared on The Today Show, The Tonight Show, Emeril Live, A&E's Breakfast with the Arts & several VH-1 programs including "I Love the 70s" & "I Love the 80s" episodes.
