Shade Gardening

Create a beautiful garden in light to dense shade! Mary Hines, Master Gardener, will cover these topics in this essential class: the meaning of 'shade' and 'part shade', choosing the right plants for shady conditions (whether dry or moist), and the perils of planting beneath trees. She will also discuss choosing plants for year-round interest, the benefits of using native plants, food plants for shade, choosing flowing shrubs and ground covers; the basics of good design, and improving the soil integrity of the shade garden with mulches and cultural practices.
