Mary Hines, Master Gardener, will cover these topics in this essential class: Meaning of "shade" and "part shade"; choosing the right plants for shady conditions, whether dry or moist; the perils of planting beneath trees; choosing plants for year-round interest; the benefits of using native plants; food plants for shade; choosing flowing shrubs and ground covers; the basics of good design; and improving the soil integrity of the shade garden with mulches and cultural practices. . 5 person minimum.
