Special auction gala event May 5 to help DeKalb charter school fund renovations for new Medlock facility.
The International Community School, a K-6 charter school that has served refugee, immigrant and local children in DeKalb County for ten years, will host its annual auction gala event at The Carter Center on Saturday, May 5 to raise funds for the school and celebrate the upcoming move to a new facility this summer. The 2012 auction theme, “Sojourn to South Africa,” will feature a live auction, silent auction and entertainment. A special guest speaker from Sacred Heart College in Johannesburg will also share exciting news about a partnership between the schools. Children representing some 40 different countries attend the International Community School.
Having occupied space at the Avondale Pattillo United Methodist Church in Avondale Estates since 2002, and later also using space at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church in Stone Mountain Village, the International Community School has secured the use of the building formerly used by Medlock Elementary School beginning with the 2012-2013 school year. ICS will be renovating, furnishing and equipping the building for a move in July 2012.

This event is open to the general public, and will feature heavy hors d'oeuvres and cash bar.
