Steff Mahan & Cheley Tackett - Live at Eddie's Attic!

Doors open at 6:30 pm. Tickets will be $15 at the door.

Sweet and soulful is the sound of alt-country’s Steff Mahan. With a voice that is pure and powerful and lyrics that are heart-crafted and rock-solid, it’s hard not to get hooked on the emotional truth that comes out of this born songwriter’s mouth. Steff’s self-titled debut album and her second release, 42.50, both garnered national attention, creating a coast-to-coast fan base from LA to New York. It was famed New York DJ Jim Kerr who said, “you’ll soon be hearing the name Steff Mahan” during a live performance and interview on Sirius Satellite Radio. Billboard’s Mike Gionet called Steff’s mix of rock, roots, folk and country “an entertaining can’t-miss performance.” Steff's newest album, Never a Long Way Home, released to rave reviews. Wildy's World proclaimed this third album as "...her best to date.” iTunes may have said it best with its review of the album as "a song collection displaying both craft and heart, sung by an artist who wins extra points for her honesty." Steff has shared the stage with such big name artists as Patty Griffin, The Indigo Girls, Tift Merritt, 10,000 Maniacs, Blame Sally and Antigone Rising, and has established herself as a popular Nashville singer/songwriter. Performing approximately 200 hundred dates a year, Steff has graced the stages of such notable venues as Atlanta's Eddie's Attic, Nashville's The Bluebird Cafe, NYC's The Bitter End, Charlotte's The Evening Muse, and Birmingham's Workplay Theater.

A consummate performer Steff is equally at home performing on a festival stage in front of thousands of people as she is tucked into the corner of an intimate living room for a private house concert. Succeeding largely on her own terms, Steff plays music because she loves it and because she wants to share this love with others. It’s exactly this desire that allows her to captivate an audience; to take them on an intimate tour of her music; to stay long after her shows talking to everyone and to call nearly every person she meets a friend. Steff recently won the 2011 Acoustic Roundtable Worldwide Singer/Songwriter Contest for her song “I Tend to Lose Things” and received an honorable mention in the 2010 International Songwriting Competition for her song “Mad at Me.” Steff Mahan was recently signed to Luna Chica Records in Nashville.

When Cheley Tackett presents her introspective material, audiences are quick to recognize and appreciate her deceptively simple, but instantly engaging, style of lyricism. Tackett’s warm spirit, heated intelligence and burning talent made her a winner at both Merlefests' Chris Austin Songwriting Contest and the Kerrville Folk Festival following in the footsteps of Gillian Welch, Nanci Griffith, Lyle Lovett, John Gorka and Lucinda Williams. Recently, Cheley was named a “Best Female Artist” finalist at the 7th Annual IAMA’s, which promotes excellence in acoustic music performance and artistry, for her song “Trainwreck” as well as being a finalist in the "Best Country Song" category for "Jerusalem Ridge." Cheley's extremely soulful voice is like another instrument that brings a tangible wonder to her performances as she climbs, soars and holds notes that leave the audience in wide-eyed wonder. "It's not often that singer-song-writers can sing like this," says producer Jim Tract. Cheley has power and style, and most of all, control. It's very special. Add to that the fact that she can write some of the most deeply introspective songs, and you've got an unbeatable combination." Tackett resists being boxed in to any one genre with Americana probably as close as you will get. The bottom line is, Cheley, like most of us, truly appreciates a great song regardless of genre, and that's how she focuses her writing.
