A DeKalb County woman is fuming after officials with the county jail revealed they believe a jail employee stole her two carat engagement ring after she was processed.
Sarah Stanford was arrested in January on a shoplifting warrant out of Clayton County. Before she was transferred to their jail, Stanford spent the night of Jan. 28 in the DeKalb lockup. There, Stanford tells WSB-TV, she believes a jail employee stole the engagement ring she had been given as a Christmas present.
A receipt with her personal items showed the ring was with her when she was processed, but somehow didn’t make it back to her when she was released, according to the report. After five months of waiting, Stanford was told jail officials uncovered security camera footage allegedly showing an employee steal the ring out of Stanford’s belongings.
