Former MLB Pitcher Holds Theft Suspects At Gunpoint

MACON, GA — A former All-Star Major League pitcher now living in Georgia helped authorities strike out a couple of suspects on Wednesday — holding two people accused of stealing his mail at gunpoint until deputies arrived.
Kevin Brown, a 19-year Major Leaguer who pitched for squads including the Texas Rangers, Florida Marlins, Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees, now lives in Macon, GA. At about 2:30 p.m.. on Wednesday, Bibb County Sheriff's deputies were called to his home in reference to a report he had pulled a gun on two suspects.
There, Jeremy Carlton Brown, Jr., 30, of Miami, FL, and a 15-year-old were arrested on three counts of theft by taking mail and third-degree forgery, the sheriff's office said. Jeremy Brown also is charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

According to the Macon Telegraph, Kevin Brown's mail had been stolen before, which prompted him to hide in a neighbor's yard and wait for the thieves to strike again.

The pair were found to have committed multiple thefts, the sheriff's office said. Investigators recovered $3,000 in cash and more than $16,000 in checks, the sheriff's office said in a social media post.
Jeremy Brown was taken to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center and the 15-year-old was turned over to Department of Family and Children's Services workers until a family member could be contacted. The incident remains under investigation.
Macon is located in central Georgia, about 90 miles south of Atlanta. Kevin Brown is a native of McIntyre, GA, a small town about 25 miles east of Macon, and played college baseball at Georgia Tech.
A starting pitcher, he piled up 211 Major League wins after being drafted fourth overall by the Texas Rangers in 1986. He played for the Rangers until 1994, then did stints with five different clubs — the Baltimore Orioles, Florida Marlins, San Diego Padres, Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees.
A six-time All Star, Brown was a member of the World Series-winning Marlins club in 1997. He retired in 2005.
