- In a cell phone video obtained by WAGA-TV, an employee at Stonecrest Mall was seen hitting a shopper with a pole. Shopper Dekwan Jackson, 25, was accused of stealing a shirt at Plato's Closet. An employee followed Jackson out of the store and struck him with a pole. According to Jackson's family, his injuries are extensive and he had to have surgery on his spine. - The DeKalb Public Library and City Schools of Decatur are working together to expand students' access to ebooks and audiobooks. According to a press release, students will be able to access the library's and the school's ebooks and audiobooks through the free Sora reading app. Books will be age-appropriate based on each student's age and interests. - Six DeKalb athletes will be inducted into the High School Football Hall of Fame on Oct. 22. Most of the selected players date back to the 1940s-1960s, including two players from Avondale High School, a DeKalb County School District school that closed in 2011. (Champion)

- Decaturish and Tucker Observer photographer Dean Hesse has received an Award of Excellence from the Atlanta Press Club in the photo essay category. The award was given to Hesse's photo essay about Shermantown, the historic Black neighborhood on the South side of downtown Stone Mountain. (Decaturish)
