Free Garbage Pickup For TVs, Furniture, More In Decatur
The DeKalb County Sanitation Division will do free residential pickup for large items from Nov. 22 through Dec. 21.

DECATUR, GA — Box springs, mattresses, lawn furniture, televisions, and other bulky items will be picked up for free for residents through The DeKalb County Sanitation Division Friday Nov. 22 through Dec. 21. Residents in the service area can put them curbside for collection. Items can be collected either Friday or Saturday.
Accepted large items include:
Furniture and appliances
Mattress & box spring
Lawn furniture & lawn mowers (gas & oil must be removed)
Microwave ovens
Stoves
Water heaters
Grills (NO PROPANE TANKS)
Toys, bicycles & playground equipment
Hand-held tools & accessories
Televisions Refrigerators & freezers (contents & doors/lids must be secured or removed)
Toilets
Restricted items include:
Pianos
Riding lawn mowers
Tires & auto parts
Yard trimmings, including tree parts (yard trimmings must follow the standard collection procedures)

Collection schedules will be based on residents’ designated sanitation service day as follows:
- Residential customers whose regularly scheduled sanitation service day is Monday will be serviced on Friday, Nov. 22, or Saturday, Nov. 23. To prevent collection delays, items should be placed at the curb no later than 7 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 22.
- Residential customers whose regularly scheduled sanitation service day is Tuesday will be serviced on Friday, Dec. 6, or Saturday, Dec. 7. To prevent collection delays, items should be placed at the curb no later than 7 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 6.
- Residential customers whose regularly scheduled sanitation service day is Wednesday will be serviced on Friday, Dec. 13, or Saturday, Dec. 14. To prevent collection delays, items should be placed at the curb no later than 7 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 13.
- Residential customers whose regularly scheduled sanitation service day is Thursday will be serviced on Friday, Dec. 20, or Saturday, Dec. 21. To prevent collection delays, items should be placed at the curb no later than 7 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 20.
