'Georgia Gives Day' is Thursday
Nov. 12 is your opportunity to donate to nonprofits making a difference in metro Atlanta.

Georgia’s nonprofit community is hoping a “flash mob of giving” during the upcoming Georgia Gives Day will result in a boost to the state’s charitable organizations.
Georgia Gives Day is an initiative spearheaded by the Georgia Center for Nonprofits, a coalition of the state’s nonprofit organizations. The day of giving is meant to be an expression of thanks for all the hard work nonprofits around the state do to keep Georgia communities vibrant, healthy, and interconnected with one another.

So far this year, nonprofits have raised almost $800,000 and have raised $5.2 million since the initiative began in 2012, the Georgia Gives Day website says. 100 percent of every donation goes directly to the organizations that the funds are donated to.
During Thursday’s event, nonprofits can compete against each other during ”Power Hours” - the organization which has raised the most money during that hour will receive a $1,000 prize. Similarly, donors will be selected at random to receive “Golden Tickets,” which tack on an additional $250 to their donation at not cost.
