Georgia Weather Forecast: Severe Thunderstorms Likely
Showers starting Friday could turn to dangerous thunderstorms in north and central Georgia over the weekend in metro Atlanta.

ATLANTA, GA — Showers on Friday could turn into hazardous thunderstorms over the weekend in metro Atlanta, according to the National Weather Service.
The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for much of north and middle Georgia over the next few days. Showers, with some isolated thunderstorms in central Georgia, are in the forecast on Friday.
There's a 70 percent chance of rain on Saturday, with a chance of thunderstorms around Atlanta after noon. It will be similarly rainy on Sunday, with thunderstorms possible again. The weather service says that a storm front will be moving slowly through the area over the weekend.

The front, combined with a wave of moist air off of the Gulf of Mexico, will keep a wet weather pattern over the region, the weather service says. Total rainfall could reach 3-5 inches over parts of north Georgia, with some minor flooding likely.
Isolated thunderstorms are possibly every day through Tuesday, according to the weather service.

Friday: A 40 percent chance of showers, mainly after 3 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 60. Southeast wind 5-10 m.p.h. Friday night, with showers likely, mainly between 7 p.m. and 3 a.m. Cloudy, with a low around 50. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
Saturday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after noon. Cloudy, with a high near 64. Southeast wind around 5 m.p.h. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. Showers and possibly a thunderstorm on Saturday night. Low around 59. South wind around 10 m.p.h, with gusts as high as 15 m.p.h. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent.
Sunday: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. High near 69. Southwest wind around 10 m.p.h, with gusts as high as 15 m.p.h. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. Sunday night, showers likely. Cloudy, with a low around 57. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent.
