Here are the top three stories today in Decatur-Avondale Estates:

1. The family of Brianna Grier, who died after injuries sustained from falling out of a moving patrol car, is seeking answers. According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigations, the deputies who were transporting Grier to the Hancock County Sheriff's Office failed to close the passenger door before driving away. At a Friday news conference in downtown Decatur, civil rights attorney Ben Crump addressed Grier's parents directly: "We won't let them sweep your baby daughter's death under the rug." 2. A firefighter and civilian were injured in a Decatur house fire, according to DeKalb County officials. On Saturday afternoon, crews responded to a blaze at 1421 Ruth Place. As of Sunday evening, the extent of their injuries is unknown; the cause of the fire remains under investigation. (CBS 46 News)
3. A man who received 913 grams of methamphetamine in Decatur was sentenced for his involvement in a multi-state drug trafficking ring. 39-year-old Jonathan Gregory Bush of Charleston admitted to receiving large amounts of methamphetamine, then selling the drugs in and around Charleston during 2021. In July of that year, authorities tracked Bush as he met with Ramon David Alston, his supplier in Decatur. (WFXRtv.com)
