An opera singer who hails from the DeKalb School of the Arts got to perform on the same stage trod upon by world-famous performers after being named a finalist in a talent competition.

According to WSB-TV, baritone Reginald Smith, Jr. was among nine finalists in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, American opera’s most prominent talent competition. The finalists were all given an opportunity to perform on stage at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York City. Smith performed β€œΓˆ sogno o realtΓ ?” from Giuseppi Verdi’s opera ”Falstaff.”

Smith, 26, told WSB-TV that he was humbled and thrilled by the opportunity.
