Hot Cars and Pets Don’t Mix and LifeLine Animal Project’s Pets of the Week

Summer is officially here, and so is the heat.  So if you’re thinking about leaving your pet in the car while you run errands, even for just a moment, think again.  It doesn’t take much heat to make your car an unsafe place for your pet.  Did you know that the temperature inside your vehicle can rise almost 20º F in just 10 minutes. In 20 minutes, it can rise almost 30º F, and the longer you wait, the higher it goes. At 60 minutes, the temperature in your vehicle can be more than 40 degrees higher than the outside temperature. Even on a 70-degree day, that's 110 degrees inside your vehicle!

Your vehicle can quickly reach a temperature that puts your pet at risk of serious illness and even death, even on a day that doesn't seem hot to you. And cracking the windows makes no difference.  So protect your pets, and leave them at home while you run errands.

Hi, my name is Rose.  I am a sweet and friendly two-year-old Retriever.  One of my all time favorite things to do is to play fetch, so if you’re sedentary, you can exercise me from the comfort of your patio chair.  However, if you like going on outdoor adventures, such as hiking or camping, I’d love to go with you and would be a great buddy.  And my adoption fee is still only $20 until the end of May, so come and meet me!

If you’re looking for a mellow dog who is happy laying around and playing couch potato with you, then I may be your boy.  My name is Seven, and I am a sweet three-year-old guy who is affectionate.  The staff here is mesmerized with my gorgeous, piercing golden eyes and the cute collection of freckles all across my nose. My adoption fee is still only $20 through the end of May too!
