Japanese Master Knife Craftsmen Featured in Upcoming Class
The Cook's Warehouse in Decatur will host an event showcasing three skilled knife forgers.

The Cook’s Warehouse is bringing three master knife craftsmen to its store at 180 W. Ponce de Leon Avenue in downtown Decatur on Sept. 14. From 3 to 6 p.m. the Japanese knife masters will demonstrate their time-honored skills forging steel into fine kitchen cutlery.
The public will be able to watch these master craftsmen go from raw iron to finished blade using the traditional forging methods that date back more than 1,000 years and are only practiced by a handful of artists today.
Visiting knife masters include Tadashi Enami and Noboru Morinaga, both second-generation forging masters, and Akimasa Oe, a second-generation knife assembling, engraving, and finishing master. Each of these craftsmen hail from Sakai City, a city known for its history forging samurai swords.
