Jason Carter, Stacey Abrams to Speak At Democratic Convention

Two political leaders with strong Decatur and DeKalb ties are set to speak at next week's Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, PA.

State Rep. Stacey Abrams, whose 89th district includes much of Decatur, and Jason Carter, who represented portions of Decatur and Avondale Estates in the state Senate, will appear at the convention, according to convention officials.

Abrams is arguably the most powerful Democrat under the heavily dominated GOP Gold Dome, serving as House Minority Leader.

Carter resigned his senate seat to mount an unsuccessful effort to unseat Gov. Nathan Deal in his quest for a second gubernatorial term.

Also set to speak next week in Philadelphia is Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed.
