Communion will be in the back yard of the celebrity chef's Decatur restaurant, Revival.

DECATUR, GA -- Communion, a beer garden from celebrity chef Kevin Gillespie, is set to open Friday in Decatur.
The open-air garden will feature games, snacks from a food truck, batch cocktails, wine and, of course, beer.
It will be in the back yard of Gillespie's fancy meat-and-three restaurant, Revival, at 129 Church St.

Communion opens at 4 p.m. Friday.
"In the truest sense of the word, Communion means 'to share,' and that is our guiding inspiration behind the new outdoor space," said the "Top Chef" alum and James Beard Award-nominated chef in a news release.

"We love to treat our guests like family at Revival, extending that hospitality to cookouts in the front yard and supper on the side porch. Now, the backyard is our final addition. It's a place where friends and neighbors can meet and share a drink, a snack from our food truck, or play a game of horseshoes together."
Eater Atlanta reports that the food-truck snacks, from Revival executive chef Andreas Muller, will include takes on classic German beer garden snacks, like grilled rye with Kartoffelkäse (a potato and sour cream spread); Bavarian-style pretzels with hot mustard and Obatzda (cheese spread); and grilled sausages with sauerkraut, mustard, and beef fat-fried potatoes.
Instead of cash or credits, patrons of Communion will buy $5 tokens which can be redeemed for food and drinks (with gratuity already factored in). Unused tokens can be redeemed on future visits.
Communion's hours will be partially determined by weather, but it is thus far scheduled to be open Thursday-Sunday, until Revival closes.
