"We are unbelievably humbled and grateful for the community support we received during the
Brackets for Good Atlanta tournament. 145 individuals, 2 area businesses, 1 foundation, and 9
local restaurants all came together to create Team L’Arche Atlanta and we could not have won
without them getting behind our mission to create communities where adults with disabilities can
experience dignity, joy, and a true sense of belonging,” says Tim Moore, L'Arche Atlanta's
Executive Director & Community Leader. “We envision a world where everyone has a secure
place of belonging in community, where people with and without disabilities can live in mutually transformative relationship, and where all people's gifts are valued. Brackets for Good is an ingenious idea that effectively brings donors together to support the causes they care about. We were honored to compete against so many nonprofits doing amazing work in the Atlanta area."
57 charitable nonprofits across the greater Atlanta-area participated in the 2018. tournament. In total, $184,938 was donated to the participating nonprofits. Across the 13 nationwide tournaments in 2018, $2,987,679 was raised for 605 charities. 33.4% of the dollars raised by nonprofits during the 2018 tournament came from first-time donors to those organizations. Further, in 2018 alone there were over 1.2 million page views, meaning participating organizations gained significant new awareness of their causes and thousands of people were inspired to learn about and rally behind charitable causes in their community.
“Brackets For Good tournaments are about much more than raising dollars. They’re about
shining a spotlight on the amazing organizations working hard every day to improve our
communities.” said Matt McIntyre, Co-Founder & Executive Director of Brackets for Good. “The
energy and the excitement attracts new fans of philanthropy and gives existing fans a unique
way to rally around the causes they care about. As a result, participating organizations are more
equipped to further their missions with engaged supporters and raised awareness."
How the Tournament Works
Participating nonprofit organizations will rally enthusiastic donors to out-fundraise their
opponents in order to advance. Through the excitement, tournament promotion, and corporate
involvement, nonprofits earn increased exposure, gain access to free fundraising tools, raise
funds, and meet new donors. Supporters score points, by making donations, to help their
favorite causes advance in the bracket-style tournament. Every dollar donated equals 1 point.
The organization, in a match-up, with the most points at the end of the round advances. At the
start of each round, point totals reset back to zero. The organization that advances through the
entire bracket receives an additional $10,000 Championship grant.
