Lambda Epsilon Omega Works to Bring Awareness to Childhood Hunger
Sorority will host a "Community Impact" event on Saturday, October 15 in efforts to bring awareness to childhood hunger.

DeKalb County, GA - Lambda Epsilon Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. will host a “Community Impact” event on Saturday, October 15 in efforts to bring awareness to childhood hunger, as well as provide food and school backpacks to Dekalb County families. The free event will be held at McNair High School, 1804 Bouldercrest Road, SE, from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Community members are invited to attend.
Consider this alarming fact. Feeding America, a nationwide network representing more than 200 food banks, reports that 1 in 7.5 people, or an estimated 755,400 people in metro Atlanta and north Georgia turn to food pantries and meal service programs to feed themselves and their families each year. This includes more than 164,000 children.
“Good nutrition is just as important to a child’s future as a quality education,” said Betty Stuckey, President of Lambda Epsilon Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. “Our chapter encourages residents to come to our event, receive free food and services, and learn about the local resources available to ensure that their kids have the tools they need to succeed.”

“Childhood hunger is a solvable problem that can make a significant difference in a student achieving their goals, and this event aim is to ensure that all the children that we serve and their families can receive healthy meals and snacks,” said Kristina D. Carter, Vice President of the chapter.
