LifeLine's DeKalb County Shelter Needs Kitten Lovers to Foster or Help Care for Bottle Babies in our new Kitten Sittin' Room

Help kittens, and meet our Pets of the Week: a girl and a boy who are eager to lavish their new families with love!

Want to help adorable kittens this Spring and Summer? We need foster parents and volunteers at our DeKalb County Animal Services shelter to help care for all the babies that are coming through our doors. Tiny and fragile, newborn kittens are one of the highest-risk groups of animals entering the shelter. They are susceptible to infectious diseases and require around-the-clock nursing to survive.

Our new Kitten Sittin’ nursery provides these babies with the special care they need to eventually become someone’s beloved pet. The nursery is staffed by employees and volunteers who bottle feed and care for the babies during two-to-three hour shifts throughout the day and night.

We also need foster volunteers who can take kittens into their homes and care for them until they are old enough to be adopted.

If you are interested in participating in our Kitten Sittin' program or becoming a foster parent, please email volunteer@dekalbanimalservices.com. If you can't volunteer or foster but still want to help, consider donating kitten supplies from our Amazon Wish List.

Please remember that kittens best chance of survival is with their mother, so if you find healthy looking kittens on their own, they may be well cared for by their mom. Please wait and make sure mom is nowhere to be found before taking action and contact catlanta@lifelineanimal.org with any questions.

LifeLine’s DeKalb County Animal Services Pets of the Week: Dustie and Charm

My name is Dustie and employees here say I’m the sweetest boy around! I adore humans and love giving them kisses. When I get adopted, I will give my new family a ton of love, and show them how smart I am. They’ll be able to quickly teach me commands, because I’m a fast learner and very eager to please. I’ll even happily wear a bow-tie if it makes them happy! I also make friends quickly and love to play with other dogs, so I’d make a good canine brother for yours. And if you adopt me during April, my adoption fee will only be $25, including my neuter, microchip and vaccinations. Will you please come meet me?

Hi, I’m Charm, and I hope I get to meet you. I’m two year’s old, and I’m told that I’ll win your heart by just looking at you with my soft brown puppy dog eyes. I try to make everyone happy: I’m very sweet, I’ve learned my sit command and I get along with all of the other dogs. I’m just ready to have a human I can love who will notice what a good girl I am. My adoption fee is only $25 during April and includes my spay, vaccines and microchip. Will you come meet me?

To meet Dustie or Charm and adopt them for only $25 each during April, visit Lifeline's DeKalb Animal Services Shelter, 845 Camp Road in Decatur, email adoption@dekalbanimalservices.com or call (404) 294-2165.
