Exhibition of Paintings by Archie Rand: GODS CHANGE, PRAYERS ARE HERE TO STAY

Details: These 24 original paintings by internationally-renowned artist Archie Rand provide a visualization of Yehuda Amichai’s beautifully iconoclastic poem on G-d, prayer, and Jewish life. This exhibition also includes the full text of Amichai’s work.

Shofar on Main Street
When: Monday-Friday, Aug. 28- Sept. 23, 11:00 am

Details: The blowing of the shofar, rams horn, is an important part of the Jewish High Holiday

season. There is a special tradition of blowing the shofar in the days leading up to Rosh Hashanah to remind us to “wake up,” reflect on the past year, and begin the spiritual preparation for the High Holiday season. All are invited to listen as Rabbi Glusman sounds the Shofar in the MJCCA’s Main Street and the MJCCA’s Fitness Center.

Mother Son Challenge Day

Swing Into Shabbat

Details: Families are invited to slam, volley, and swing into Shabbat on the tennis courts at

the JCC. Juan Arico and other coaches will be on hand to engage you and your children in activities and fun skill building sessions. Rabbi Glusman will lead Shabbat songs and blessings followed by a visit from the Weinstein School Shabbat Dinosaur! Challah and grape juice will be served. “Islam for Jews” Class

“Our Master Story” Class

Details: Our Master Story continues as we complete the Book of Numbers. We will then begin our exploration of the final book of the Torah, Deuteronomy, in which Moses updates all of the Torah’s teachings for the Israelites, in preparation for their entering into the Promised Land. We begin with our own interpretations of the text, and then we enrich our understanding by studying the interpretations of medieval and contemporary commentators.
