Local Politics Workshop: How To Run For Office

A local chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority is running the workshop which helps locals run for office.

DECATUR, GA — The Lambda Epsilon Omega Chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority is hosting a workshop for those interested in running for office. The "Basic Training to Run for Office" workshop is designed to inform the community on methods and requirements to run for political office, according to a press release.

"Lambda Epsilon Omega is always striving to empower our local community to take action to ensure that Dekalb County is the best place it can possibly be to live, work and play. One key way to make impactful change is to serve your community,” said Betty P. Stuckey, president of the chapter, in the press release. “This training aims to educate the residents about running for office and to encourage more individuals to qualify and become candidates equipped with a fundamental understanding of campaigning.”

Featured expert panelists will be DeKalb County Superior Court Judge Gregory A. Adams; DeKalb County State Court Judge Brian K. Ross; Solicitor General Donna Coleman Stribling, Georgia State Senator Tonya Anderson; President/Chief Executive Officer Kerry Ramsey of KD Ramsey & Associates; and Councilman Rob Turner, City of Stonecrest.

The training runs from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 3521 Panthersville Rd., room SB 1190 on the Decatur Campus of Georgia State University. It's free and open to the public.
