Lyft Driver Risked Life After Deadly Crash: Police

The crash shut down a busy road in DeKalb County in the early-morning hours on Thursday.

DECATUR, GA — A deadly crash shut down a busy road in DeKalb County early Thursday, and a driver for Lyft risked his life in an effort to try to save others in its aftermath, according to police.

WSB-TV reports that the crash happened at about 1:45 a.m. at Panthersville Road and Oakvale Drive. DeKalb County Police say the head-on collision happened when a Dodge Challenger crossed over the center line and crashed into a Honda Accord.

The Challenger spun out and burst into flames and its driver, a 24 year old man, was killed, according to police. They say a Lyft driver who was passing by stopped and tried to help the man, but the flames from the crash were too intense.

The woman driving the Honda escaped the crash with minor injuries, according to police.
