Seasonal & Holidays

Make a Difference in the Lives of LifeLine Animal Project’s Shelter Pets During the Busy Spring and Summer Months!

And meet our DeKalb County Pet of the Week, GeeGee, an adorable and happy girl who loves to play and can entertain herself for hours!

Springtime in Atlanta brings sunshine, Dogwood blooms and, sadly, skyrocketing intake levels at LifeLine’s DeKalb County Animal Services (DCAS) and Fulton County Animal Services (FCAS) shelters due to the high number of animals being born. From bottle-feeding kittens to heartworm positive senior dogs, we take in an average of 80 animals daily! Want to help us keep the shelter animals happy? There are many ways you can!

One way to help is to adopt, and during our March and April promotion, adoptions are only $40 on all dogs weighing over 25 lbs. and all cats. The adoption includes the pet’s spay/neuter, microchip and vaccines and is valid at all of LifeLine’s shelters, including FCAS, DCAS, LifeLine’s Dog House & Kitty Motel and LifeLine’s Cat Adoption Center.

Not able to adopt right now? Then how about fostering a dog or cat? Even if you can only commit for a few weeks, you can become a short-term foster parent for one of our pets who will be going on transport to a rescue group or shelter. Additionally, there are many other ways you can help, including taking a shelter dog out for a hike through our “Dog for a Day” program, fostering a bottle-feeding kitten, hosting a dog overnight for a slumber party, cuddling with kittens at our Cat Adoption Center, joining our dog Run Club, purchasing items off our Amazon Wish List, and the list goes on! Learn more about these and other fun ways to help here.

LifeLine’s DeKalb County Animal Services Pet of the Week: GeeGee

Our DeKalb County Animal Services Pet of the Week is GeeGee, a cheerful one-year-old girl who would love a backyard to zoom around in and a family to love. This focused girl can entertain herself for hours with a good dog toy, but she’d also be happy playing with you. GeeGee is intelligent and has already learned a few basic commands. Adopt her during our "Spring into Adoption" promotion during March and April, and her adoption fee will be only $40, including her spay, microchip and vaccinations! Come meet her today at LifeLine's DeKalb County Animal Services by visiting her at 845 Camp Road in Decatur, emailing adoption@dekalbanimalservices.com or calling (404) 294-2165.
