Man Fatally Shot In Yard, Suspect In Custody: Police

Brian Holmes, 42, and a man in his 20s, became involved in a dispute in the yard of a Lithonia home when the shooting took place.

LITHONIA, GA – DeKalb Police have arrested a 42-year-old man in the fatal shooting that killed a man in his late 20s early Thursday morning following a dispute in the front lawn of a Lithonia home.

The victim, who has not yet been publicly identified by police, was found in the yard of a home in the 2300 block of Cherokee Valley Circle, police said. The shooting took place around 1:30 a.m. and the man was found with gunshot wounds.

Police announced Thursday evening that Brian Holmes, 42, had been taken into custody in connection with the shooting. Police said earlier on Thursday that they had not located the suspect in the shooting.

The was taken to a local hospital, where he later died. Police do not believe the victim lived at the address where he was found, police said.
