Man Found Shot Along I-285 In DeKalb Dies, Police Say

DeKalb County Police say a witness drove the man from the scene and called for help once they reached I-285.

DECATUR, GA β€” Police say a man has died after he was found with a gunshot wound Tuesday morning along Interstate 285 south near Glenwood Road.

Officers responded around 3 a.m. to I-285 after receiving a report of a person who had been shot, DeKalb County Police said.

The shooting occurred during an argument in the 5500 block of Marbut Road and involved people known to one another, police said.

A witness then drove the man from the scene and called for help once on I-285, police said.

When officers arrived, police said they found the man suffering from serious injuries.

He was taken to a hospital, where he died, police said.

Officers did not identify the man, but the DeKalb County Medical Examiner's Officer told CBS News his name was Tywarn Jones, 50.

Police have not said if any suspects are in custody.
