Man Shot, Killed At Decatur Motel

Someone knocked on the man's door shortly before 1 a.m. Wednesday, then attacked him, according to police.

DECATUR, GA — A man was shot and killed early Wednesday morning after opening his door to a knock at a Decatur motel, police say.

The shooting happened just before 1 a.m. at the America's Best Value Inn at 2574 Candler Rd., according to the DeKalb County Police Department. The motel is on Candler Road just north of Interstate 20.

Police say the 39-year-old man, whose name they had not released Wednesday morning, opened his door and was attacked by the person who was there. They struggled and the man was shot and killed, police say.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Police Wednesday morning were continuing their search for the shooter.
