The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is now examining the death of a man who fell from a fence after he was tased by the DeKalb County police officers he was allegedly running from.
Robbery patrol officers were in the vicinity of Flat Shoals Road when they pulled over a car near the Highlands of East Atlanta apartment complex on Thursday. The driver remained admitted to police he was carrying a firearm; as an officer was securing the weapon, the passenger fled from the scene, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
The fleeing man ran past a Family Dollar, then attempted to climb an 8-foot wall to get away. As he was climbing, an officer fired a taser bolt at the man, who then fell over the fence and hit his head, a witness told WSB-TV.
