Man Who Died In DeKalb Police Car Shot Himself: Autopsy

The man who died in the back of a DeKalb patrol car died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to an autopsy report.

DEKALB COUNTY, GA — A man who died inside of a DeKalb County patrol car shot himself, according to an autopsy report, obtained by the Atlanta-Journal Constitution.

Christian Smith, 33, of Ellenwood, was picked up by DeKalb police Sept. 25 while walking on I-20, reported the AJC. He was given a ride to a gas station, when the officers learned that Smith had an active warrant. While questioning him, Smith was reported to have brought out a gun.
