Moratorium On DeKalb County Dollar Stores Extended
The DeKalb County Board of Commissioners voted Tuesday to extend its temporary ban on new dollar stores.
DEKALB COUNTY, GA — DeKalb County on Tuesday extended its temporary ban on new dollar stores. The commission voted to extend the moratorium for another three months.
The extension will allow researchers from Georgia State University to continue studying the impact they have on communities, reported the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The commission voted to extend the moratorium until Oct. 29.
Viviane Ernstes, the county attorney, tells the AJC that the GSU researchers will present their final report with their findings to the commissioners. County officials will then be able to draft legislation to permanently regulate dollar stores.
