New Mayor of Decatur to be Chosen Monday

DECATUR GA -- The city will get a new mayor on Monday night.

The city commission is holding its first meeting of 2016 at City Hall, beginning at 7:30, and the commission elects Decatur’s mayor.

Outgoing mayor Jim Baskett did not seek re-election to the commission, meaning the commission will choose the new mayor from among its members, according to Decaturish.

Brian Smith and Tony Powers will also be sworn on Monday. Commissioner Scott Drake was re-elected.

Also on the agenda is the appointment of a city attorney.
