Officer Kills Suspect After Spree Of DeKalb Shootings
The man is believed to have shot at four people, striking at least one, early Sunday morning.

CHAMBLEE, GA — A police officer in Chamblee shot and killed a suspect early Sunday after police say the man went on a shooting spree in DeKalb County.
At 1:11 a.m., officers were called to a home on New Peachtree Road, where the found a man had been shot in the hand in what was described as a drive-by shooting. Witnesses described the shooter to police and said he had a handgun and was driving a small, silver car.
About 10 minutes later, officer again were called, this time to a QuikTrip gas station at 2805 Chamblee Tucker Rd. As officers arrived, a man ran away from the scene to nearby Quantum Lane. There, they saw the man once again firing the handgun.

Fearing for their safety, and the safety of the public, an officer fired one shot, striking the suspect, according to Chamblee Police.
The man was taken into custody and later died at the scene, according to police.

Afterward, another person reported that he was driving through the intersection of Chamblee Tucker Road and Shallowford Road when a man matching the suspect's description shot at him, hitting his car. Police believe that shooting happened while the suspect was driving from New Peachtree Road to the QuikTrip.
Another man would tell officer he was shot at while he was in the QuikTrip parking lot. A small, silver car was located in the gas station's parking lot, according to police.
On Sunday, Chamblee Police said they did not know a motive for the series of shootings. As is routine in officer-involved shootings, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation is looking into the shooting. The officer who shot the suspect will be on administrative leave during the investigation.
The suspect's name had not been released Sunday, with Chamblee Police saying they were waiting until his relatives had been notified.
