Officer Shot, Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested In DeKalb
Officials say an armed robbery suspect opened fire on a police officer assisting with his arrest, injuring the DeKalb officer.
DECATUR, GA β A police officer assisting with the arrest of an armed robbery suspect was shot Thursday near Glenwood Road, and the accused gunman has been taken into custody, DeKalb County officials said.
The shooting happened during a multi-agency investigation around 5 p.m. near Glenwood and Shamrock Drive.
Officials said DeKalb officers were helping Cobb County authorities with the suspect, who was sought after in connection with an armed robbery in Cobb.

Sometime during the incident, officials said suspect Tremagne McCluskey opened fire and shot the DeKalb officer.
The officer suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment, officials said. The officer was in stable condition.

About four hours after the shooting, officials said SWAT officers found McCluskey nearby around 9 p.m. and arrested him without further incident.
McCluskey faces charges of aggravated assault on a police officer, in addition to armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, officials said.
DeKalb County Jail records showed McCluskey, of Locust Grove, also faces charges of obstruction of law enforcement officers and destroying or causing serious or debilitating injury to police dog or horse. He was being held without bond, according to jail records.
The shooting highlights the risks authorities face daily, DeKalb CEO Lorraine Cochran-Johnson said in a news release.
DeKalb County Police Chief Greg Padrick said shooting at a police officer threatens the community's safety.
