Officer Stabbed During Fight With Suspect: DeKalb Police

DeKalb County Police were responding to a call when authorities accused a suspect of stabbing an officer.

DECATUR, GA — An officer responding to a disturbance call was injured in a stabbing around 2 a.m. Friday in the 5400 block of Covington Highway, DeKalb County Police said.

Officers were called to a gas station about a person who police say was intoxicated and disturbing customers.

When officers arrived, police said a suspect attacked them and pulled out a knife. The officers and the suspect then fought, and police said the suspect stabbed one of the officers.

Additional officers responded, and the suspect was taken into custody, police said.

The officer suffered several cuts and was taken to a local hospital in stable condition, police said. They added the officer is expected to fully recover.

The suspect was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, police said. The person was not identified, and police did not say if charges have been filed.
