Parade, Live Music, Fireworks in Decatur for July 4th
Independence Day will be full of fun activities in the heart of Decatur.

Decatur residents can enjoy a parade, live music, fireworks, and can be eligible for prizes during the city’s upcoming July 4th festivities.

Line-up for the Pied Piper Parade begins at 5:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Decatur located at 308 Clairemont Ave. Walkers should line-up in the parking lot or lawn on the north side of the church. Vehicles should pull into the parking deck on the south side of the church for line up in the vehicle section.
The parade begins promptly at 6 p.m., winds its way to the square for the presentation of colors and the Star Spangled Banner. The parade route is approximately one mile long. It turns right out of the church parking lot, left onto Commerce Drive, right onto Church Street, right onto E. Ponce de Leon Avenue, left onto Commerce Drive, left onto W. Trinity Place, ending at N. McDonough Street.

Parade participants are encouraged to get silly and get creative with their bikes, skateboards, wagons, costumes, and more. Prizes will be awarded for the best “parade float” and the best kid’s vehicle.

Once the parade has made its way through downtown, the Callanwolde Concert Band will perform a free concert in Decatur Square at 7 p.m.
The big highlight of Decatur’s Independence Day celebrations, the fireworks show, will begin at dusk.
