Avondale Elementary Parent Arrested for Bringing a Gun on Campus

No one was threatened or injured in the Monday morning arrest.

Avondale Estates GA -- An Avondale Elementary School parent was arrested Monday morning after entering the school with a gun in his pocket.

No one was threatened or injured in the incident, which happened around 7 am, according to WSB-TV.

After approaching the man, whose child is among the school’s students, school administrators called 9-1-1.

The school was briefly on lockdown, which was lifted around 9 am, reports the AJC. The parent was arrested on charges of possession of a gun on school campus and criminal trespass.

DeKalb schools spokesman Quinn Hudson told the AJC that the man never removed the gun or threatened anyone.
