Imagine a life lived from a place of peace and not anxiety. A life that consists of waves on the surface brought on by storms, but remains still in the deep waters. A heart and mind guarded by an iron clad sense of trust and stability.
Does this sound way to good to be true? Both science and spirituality tell us that it is not. When storms occur often enough, it is very difficult to believe that we have any choice in how we respond. This may be due to having never been taught that there is another option to choose from. Family patterns, beliefs, and life events influence the choices we make and the physiological connections in our brains. These connections are wired towards fear (insecurity, distrust, detachment) or trust (peace, well-being, connection).
So how does one transition into a life of peace after years of fear? Both the direction and length of time vary by individual. My suggestion would be to take time to be still and ask for the first step and ONLY the first step. When we are anxious, we have a tendency to want to know all the steps, the terrain of the path, how long its going to take, what the weather will be like etc. This increases our anxiety because we are not always given that information. Try alloting a period of time to sit in silence and ask your Higher Power for the first step or let the answer arise in you.

To transition from fear to peace is not an easy one, but it does in fact exist. You have a choice in the matter. The more you exercise choices that bring peace, the more your sense of well-being will grow. And with that growth comes a grounding in the truth that all was well, all is well, and all will be well. Always.
