Hello and happy Saturday! I'm back in your inbox this warm morning to walk you through all the most important things happening locally. Here we go.

Here are the top three stories in Decatur-Avondale Estates today:

  1. Have you seen Georgia Poetry in the Park's poetry trails in DeKalb County parks? The poetry trails feature works by contemporary Georgia writers and encourage visitors to stop, read, and reflect. There are currently three poetry trails, including one on the Michelle Obama Trail near the Georgia State University-Perimeter College Decatur Campus. (Subscription: The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
  2. Family and friends remember the life and legacy of David Schneberger, the "joke guy of Decatur." Schneberger suffered extensive injuries after a 50-foot fall while traveling in Italy with his daughter; he sadly passed away on Jul. 21. His family is currently working on a plan to bring Schneberger back home to the states. (Decaturish.com)
