Police Release Photos Of Decatur Verizon Store Robber

A man robbed the store, on West Ponce de Leon Avenue, at gunpoint on Friday, Dec. 22.

DECATUR, GA — Decatur Police have released photographs of a suspect in last week's armed robbery of the Verizon store on West Ponce de Leon Avenue downtown.

At about 8:38 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 22, Decatur Police responded to the store. There, employees said a man had come in and asked if they had phones. The employees said they then heard the sound of a round of ammunition being chambered into a handgun.

The man ordered the employees to the rear of the store and said, "You know what this is," according to police.

He took an undetermined number of cellphones and left through the front door, getting into a red vehicle, possibly driven by a second person, police said.

The suspect in the case is described as a black male, between 20-30 years old and standing about 5'9" with a slender build. He was wearing a burgundy, hooded sweatshirt, a skull cap, wool gloves, boots and baggy pants and was armed with a handgun.

No employees were injured during the robbery, according to police. Police say the robber's image was captured by surveillance cameras at the store.
