Police Send Warning Amid Planned Glenwood Day

DECATUR, GA — Authorities say they are on alert for an event that annually joins together a local community in Decatur, Glenwood Day.

According to social media flyers, the popular Glenwood Day is set to happen Saturday, stretching from Covington Highway to Candler Road. Glenwood Day has long been a celebration of the local community.

However, DeKalb County Police on Friday said the staple event is not authorized or permitted.

"DKPD will have an increased presence in the area to monitor activity, protect the public and enforce all applicable laws. Any individuals participating in unlawful activity—including traffic violations, roadway obstruction or disorderly
conduct—will be subject to enforcement action, including arrest," police said in a news release.

Glenwood Day typically mimics a block party. A flyer on Instagram is requesting "absolutely no violence" at the event.

Another flyer read: "Classic cars, the city, the culture, the people… this ain’t just an event — this a tradition. Pull up clean. Bring your people. Respect the vibe — kids present."

Police asked for people to comply with law and ensure safety.
