Well known vintage home store, Kudzu Antiques in Decatur, is announcing a new on-going series of Pop Up Gallery installations. Booth Contemporary is a pop up gallery curated by artist Taylor Means. The series will focus on contemporary artists, and kicks off with ‘Private/Public’, an exhibition of Chris Peters large scale photographs. Peters creates his images utilizing site-specific camera obscura in rooms of abandoned buildings, creating powerful images through the juxtaposition of interior and exterior spaces.
The gallerys mission is to showcase contemporary art, in what may be considered a surprising and converse setting and to present contemporary work more accessibly to the average shopper. These large-scale images placed in a stark white environment provide an interesting contrast to the busy and multihued environment that Kudzu typically presents.
